“Humility. After having learned all that {generosity, love envies not, etc.} you have to learn one thing more; to put a seal upon your lips and forget what you have done. After you have been kind, after love has done its beautiful work, go back into the shade again and say nothing about it. Love hides even from itself. Love waives even self-satisfaction. Love vaunts not itself, and is not puffed up.” ~Henry Drummond

Into the Shade
by Kate Stinson

Step into the shade
where light dances across your face,
and in the coolness,
you’re sheltered by His peaceful umbrella

Step into the shade
where His shadow cloaks you in humility,
and under His canopy,
you’re protected from the striking sun

Let the shade cover you
Let the shade drape over your arms with its soft comfy blanket
Let His shade whisper to you gently,

“Come unto Me.
You, who are weary and heavy laden.
I will give you rest.”

Step into the Father’s shade.

“The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.”
(Psalms 121: 5-6)
