It is common in Cambodia to:
· Eat western food more than local food
· Say that if Thailand and Haiti had a baby it would be Cambodia
· Love the people
· Take Tuk-Tuk rides everywhere
· Learn about the Cambodian genocide of the 70’s
· Live near a bakery
· Buy imported goods from America at “high” prices (which is how much it would actually be back home)
· Be asked to help in an English class and end up teaching because the teacher thinks you have to know
everything about the grammar of the English language because you speak English more than they
actually do as the teacher
· Spend $5 the entire month for a phone bill because of the crazy phone deals
· Go to a church service and hear snippets of English, but have no idea what the sermon is about
· Sleep in a tent inside your room-MOSQUITOS!
· Enjoy wonderful weather- hot, breezy, coolish…during their cool season
· To hold a 1,000 & 10,000 & 100,000 increments in bills
· Shop at the Russian Market where they filmed a part of the Amazing Race
· See Angkor Watt
· Tuk-Tuk drivers not knowing where to go
· Wearing more of the dirt on the road then walking on it
· Seeing shells everywhere not because of nearby beach but more for a local snack of literal shell fish
· Eat spider
· Walking over flatten rats and mice all over the roads
· Hearing hellos from kids around every corner
· Eat what Americans call stir fry as Cambodian food
· Go to the Blue Pumpkin and think you are in Heaven
· Support ministries helping girls get out of prostitution
· Not want to leave!
