Let me tell you a little something about weeds:
They’re a plant that’s considered undesirable, unattractive, or troublesome. Especially when they’re growing where they’re not wanted, like in a garden. Most weeds have contractile roots, meaning they resist the pull of being uprooted. Now, the tricky thing about weeds is if you don’t fully uproot them, they’ll just grow back again.
There’s all different kinds of weeds. Big ones, little ones, shallow rooted, deep rooted..
You have the BIG weeds that you stare at wondering if you’re going to be able to pull it out with just your hands or if you’re going to have to pull out the shovel for it, but then you go for it with your hands anyways and it’s so easy it practically uproots itself.
You have the little ones you think you’ll just pluck right up. Then you try, and all you get are the superficial leaves above the ground.. You find yourself looking back at it knowing it’s roots are still deep down below the dirt’s surface. If you pull and dig a little more you may be able to get to it’s bottom to scoop the rest out.
And still, there’s the weeds that have just been there for far too long. They got left in the garden to grow out of ignorance or complacency. Maybe you recognized them a while ago, but even just the thought of trying to weed them out made you too exhausted to try. Maybe you tried to convince yourself it wasn’t really a weed, but more just a new exotic plant you could try to get your friends on board with. And maybe still, you just didn’t care. It’d become so much a part of your garden you couldn’t even imagine what your garden would look like without it. These are the weeds you need the weed-x for. These are the weeds, that no matter how hard you pull or how deep you dig, you’ll never fully uproot. They need to be suffocated.
“I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” Ezekiel 36:26
