I am writing to you with an extremely humbled and grateful heart. I have spent quite some time in prayer over this letter and I cannot wait to share this news with you.
In August, I felt God tugging on my heart about a program called “The World Race” through a non-profit organization, Adventures in Missions. I heard about it in passing conversation, but for some reason I could not get it out of my head. I went to their website, watched the introductory video about the trip, and was instantly hooked. I knew in that moment that it was what God was calling me to do next. I could not believe that God would ever want to use me to be even the smallest part of His Kingdom work, but I know that He will use this to grow me spiritually, and continue to shape me into the woman that He designed for me to be. I started the application process and was accepted within a few weeks. The only way I know how to describe the acceptance phone call was that it was as if someone was telling me that all of my childhood dreams had finally come true. It honestly felt as if my whole world had fallen into place. I never imagined myself going into full-time ministry or joining an 11 month mission trip for that matter, but I also never expected my Heavenly Father to change my life the way He has in the last few years either. I am ready for God to take my servant heart and use it for His glory, wherever that may lead me.
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries. My team and I will be traveling to Mongolia, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Cambodia, Albania, Macedonia and Serbia starting in October 2016. We will spend one month in each country working with the local churches and organizations to meet the needs of each community while spreading the gospel. Ministry on the race will look a lot different from month to month to meet the specific needs of each community that we enter into. We will preach in churches, visit and teach kids in orphanages, do construction work and other forms of manual labor and minister to victims of sex trafficking. Our goal is to do whatever it takes to bring God’s Kingdom to earth and spread His love around the world. Jesus instructed his disciples to go preach the gospel, heal the sick, and raise the dead, and it is the desire of our hearts to raise to life a generation of modern-day disciples for His Kingdom.
The purpose of this letter is to ask you to partner with me as I begin this new chapter while being obedient to God’s will for my life. I am expected to raise $16,961 and although right now that seems like an impossible number I know that He will provide a way, because impossible is where God starts. I am inviting you on this journey with me and I would love any support that you could offer. Not only do I need financial support, but I would love for you to join me in prayer as well, over myself, my team and all those that we will come in contact with during our trip. I will be spending the next 9 months fundraising, preparing my heart spiritually, and growing deeper in my relationship with Christ and I would appreciate your prayers through that process.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for the role that each of you have played in my journey so far. I have attached another letter that will provide you with all the details you will need to contribute towards my trip. I also have a blog through that I will post in leading up to the trip, as well as during the trip that can be used to track my team’s journey over the next year and a half.
In His name,
Katarina Schatz
