Ever since I was little, 4th grade, I would get letters and hear of opportunities to go on week trips to learn or gain leadership skills. The first one I can remember was the one my 4th grade year. There was 3 of us chosen to do this week long leadership experience…. if we could afford the 2,000 dollars plus travel costs… My parents told me to raise the money and I could go. So that’s exactly what I did. As a 4th grader I wrote a letter and raised $2000.
Now, in the next few years of my school career and kept getting these opportunities for trips like this. My parents gave me the same answer every single time. If I had the money I could go. Needless to say I didn’t go on any more of the trips. As a young child then preteen and young teenager I didn’t have a job and couldn’t just find thousands of dollars for every trip that I wanted to do.
Then a year ago I heard of this trip at Creation Fest 2013. I looked at my mom who was standing beside me and said that I wanted to do this. This time she told me to look into it and pray about it. I did just that. I found every detail I could then I applied. I was accepted and my mom told me that it was time for me to raise the money. I did a similar thing as I did 8 years ago. I went to businesses and I went to my church. I went to family and friends telling them everything I knew and explaining how I needed their help.
I went from raising $2000 in 4th grade to raising over $12000 my senior year. And I have almost done it! I only need a few thousand more which in comparison is so so close! I told God at the very start if this trip is for me then please help me raise the money. If it’s not please don’t allow me to waste anyone else’s time or income. I know this trip is for me because I have the money. I am so thankful to all of you who have helped me get this far! I love you all so much and you guys mean the world to me.
