Hi! I’m Kasey and I’m trying to decide which awesome parts of my life you will be most interested in…so, here are the basics.
I’m 31 and 11.75/12ths…meaning I will bid farewell to this age in a whoppin’ 6 days. Hooray for birthdays…i.e. I love cake. I s’pose that I’ll need to update this post after 9.25 when I welcome thirty two. The 30’s are still the new 20’s, right? I’m going with yes. Anyway, I quite possibly may be the most “mature” on this squad…and I reserve the right to use “mature” loosely. I’m almost certain the mean age of our squad just jumped a couple of digits. Hooray.
Ok, enough nonsense for now. Here are my stats in bullet point style:
- 31…for a few more minutes.
- Born & raised in Graysville, AL (small suburb of B’ham)
- Samford University for college
- Atlantan for the past 8+ years (fist pump and shout out to what has truly become my home)
- Associate Director of the Student Ministry at the all too awesome Peachtree Rd UMC in Buckhead for the past 4+ years.
No more boring bullet points.
I’ve resisted and by resisted I mean that I have dragged my feet on the blog posts. I’m going to candidly refer to mine as a flog (a faux blog) in effort to remove some of the pressure, or somethin’. So far I’m pretty sure I have failed miserably in sharing something cool about myself. I’m trying to multi-task but my attention is being captured by Betty White on my tv screen. I heart her. *Muting so I can focus.
I have been on an adventure since I entered this world. I’ve always been a dare-devil waiting on the next challenge (thanks, Dad!) and I cannot remember a time that I turned down some sort of exciting activity. I love being outdoors. If given the option, I will always choose playing outside over sitting inside (except during tornadoes). I may be in my 30’s but I’m a big kid at heart. An avid runner, I love experiencing the outdoors on foot via road, park or trail. I white water raft like it’s my job and camping is one of my favorite activities. Totally off that subject, I remember my first trip to Six Flags over GA when I was a young lil whipper snapper, and I recall standing as straight and tall as possible in hopes that I could ride the upside down ride with my dad. Alas, it would be another year before that adventure would come to fruition. Pretty sure I counted down the days on a calendar. Life is fun. It’s a journey. It’s ebb and flow. It is, without a doubt, a constant adventure. Sometimes it’s scary. Sometimes exhilarating. It’s always changing. Never dull. The past 8 years it has offered plenty of ups and downs chockful of invaluable life lessons. Moments that are tattooed on my heart and woven into the fabric of who I am and am yet to become.
I love sports, will watch an entire day of SEC football (War Eagle!) on any given Saturday in the fall (that’s the way we Southern girls roll) and have enjoyed a variety of co-ed athletic leagues since moving to Atlanta. “You don’t quit playing because you grow older, you grow older because you quit playing”. I have not and will not quit “playing”. I have been on some sort of team since I was 6 years old.
I’m funny…at least I think so. I’ve learned that you just have to laugh at life and laugh at yourself. It’s so much more enjoyable when you can go with the flow and not take yourself too seriously. *One of my valuable life lessons. I’m goofy and cannot retell any sort of comedic story that is even remotely audibly understandable. Ou, two adverbs in a row. I’m a grammar nazi but have decided that after this post, I’m throwing caution to the wind and just might not show any concern for grammar in future flogs. If you know me, then you probably just gasped out loud.
I have a 3 legged golden retriever/lab/chow mix named Baron and he is THE coolest dog on the planet.
I’m about to wrap flog numero uno, and will end with some of my favorite things:
my parents. sunshine. flip flops. jeans. guitar music. concerts. amphitheaters. playing in the rain. cheese. extra crunchy peanut butter. trailmix. my honda fit. my dog. fruit. the atlanta braves. trying new restaurants. traveling (duh). sky diving. recycling, yay earth. white water rafting. hiking. being an aunt. working with teens. target. changing the world. Jesus. softball. football. the beach. sailing. surfing. bargain shopping. cooking. clif bars. painting pottery. laughing. crisp autumn weather. coffee. running. reading. photography. rei. cool jewelry. indoor plants. driving with the windows down. pretty much anything water related. scoutmob. quotes. hair appointments. snow skiing. stories. witty remarks. ballcaps. sarcasm. about 6 hilarious tv shows. comedy. greek yogurt. grammar. doodling. stationary. adventure. endurance. excellence. goals. life. the people in my life that i love. opportunity.
That is all…for now. Oh, and I love dot dot dots.
