Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Okay so I realize I haven’t posted a blog in about three months and I am sorry. The truth is that sometimes it’s hard to experience these incredible things and then post about them in a blog. It can be difficult to relay how much a month, a ministry, an experience can impact me. So here is the low down on my time in Port Elizabeth, South Africa…
During my time in Cape Town at debrief my team underwent some changes. Basically total reconstruction. My time with the amazing Kingdom Shakers came to an end and I was placed on a new team that we named Sculpted Unity. I totally love my new team, by the way… they’re incredible women of God and it’s an honor to spend this time with them.
The other incredible thing that happened during my time in Cape Town was that I was fully funded!!!!! Answered prayer for sure and another blog on the amazingness of that later. All I can say is thank you! Thank you for your support and your prayers!
So… back to ministry! Month five was probably my favorite month in my entire life… yes my entire life! My team, Sculpted Unity, worked with a organization called Love Story. The beautiful part about this month was that everyday was different and everyday held the potential to be life changing in the smallest of ways.
Love Story. This organization focuses on feeding the homeless through a program called city feed, building relationships with local soup kitchens, providing food packages for local families and so much more. In order to raise funds for the ministry, twice a month they hold a market and all of the money earned pays the bills! It is an incredible event that brings together the community through food, drinks and even local artists!
During our time at Love Story we went to city feed, handed out care packages for crisis babies at the local hospital, visited a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center and organized food to be distributed to soup kitchens. We also helped with a coat and blanket drive, assembled wheel chairs, and made a lot of peanut butter sandwiches for underprivileged kids at the local schools.
One of the best parts of ministry at Love Story was the community that constantly poured into us. We had the privilege of attending a local church named Father’s House where we got to connect with people and have our lives transformed through the wisdom of the body of Christ. The people I encountered at Father’s House quickly became family to me, I have been beyond blessed through those relationships. Even now, three months later these wonderful people are impacting my life.
Love Story helped me understand that it doesn’t take a lot to make a big difference in the world. Simply making rice and soup for the homeless men and women on the street was enough to show the great love of God to a people in need. The month taught me that simple acts of kindness and selfless love can, in a moment, make an impact that lasts a lifetime.
I wish any of my photos would upload but the intricacy of wifi is beyond me. So until later, check out my facebook for photos! 🙂 love you all. thank you.
Comment. Email. Call. Anything. I love hearing from you, whether we have met or not. You all inspire me to keep going everyday. Lord knows I need the inspiration and love from yall. 🙂
