Welcome to my Journey…

If you are receiving this newsletter it is because I have identified you as a supporter, a prayer warrior, or a friend who I want to share this experience with. Some of you are even all the above. In this first newsletter of many, I would like to share why I have felt called to the World Race.

In the fall semester of my Junior year at Palm Beach Atlantic University  I was going through a bit of a transition. It was the first time in my life since I was five years old that I was not on a softball team. I had given up the one thing that had defined who I was for over 15 years. Needless to say I was confused, upset, and needing direction.

That semester I applied to go a mission trip with Palm Beach Atlantic University in the Spring. This was my first inter-national mission trip and I was very excited. That March I went to Bolivia with Children’s Impact Network  and had the best spring break I’d ever had

doing Sidewalk Sunday School and work projects for the children at the Bolivian Life Center.

Prior to going to Bolivia, I saw a video a friend posted about a mission trip she was going on. Her name was Sam Francart and her trip was called the World Race. The video gave me chills, and I felt a push like I had never felt before saying go.

I applied but I didn’t hear back from Adventures in Missions so I assumed I was not accepted. My senior year I went on my second mission trip with Children's Impact Network, this time to Honduras. Again, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. When I returned to America I had a voice mail from AIM asking if I was still interested in the World Race.

I was so excited and started the process of finalizing my application and scheduling my interview while simultaneously preparing to host with Children's Impact Network for six weeks in Honduras. I had my interview the day I boarded the plane for San Pedro Saul and was accepted my second week in Honduras.

Looking back I see that my initial "rejection" was not a "no" from God, but rather a not right now. Had I been on the first World Race trip I applied to I would have been in Ireland and not Honduras this summer. I would not trade my experience this summer for anything and the World Race route I am currently on will take me back to Bolivia and Honduras! God’s planning and timing is 100% better than mine!
