So this past weekend July 10-12th my team and our ministry we are working with partnered with another team from just outside of Durban that was in Solomon (our ministry host) youth group in Port St Johns and we drove 4 hours outside of Port St Johns up into the mountains and near the beach in a valley for survival camp. Some of us pitched tents, some of them slept outside with blankets and a tarp because they didn’t have tents. My team shared our tents and then gave up the tents we didn’t use for others to use. We woke up Saturday morning to a nice fire and coffee. (What could be better) and had breakfast and a devotion and worship time and personal quiet time. The leader of the devotion talked about being history makers, from Acts 4:13… And he asked us to think of someone who made an impact in our lives and shaped our history and also asked us how we can shape someone else’s life. It was really fun and cool to think about. After our devotion we went on an hour hike, we walked along the beach, up and down rocks, up a mountain and through an African jungle to reach another beach just to find out the game reserve we were planning on visiting had informed us that we were entering illegally and we were all given a citation. So basically we were arrested. Ha. Only in Africa. So we left Sunday morning to head back to Port St Johns. It was great to meet everybody from the town outside of Durban and get to our team better. We all got to know each other better and bonded so much. It meant so much to the locals that this camp happened and that we were there. It’s so hard to believe that it’s only been a week. But it’s been a great week. This next week is going to be a nice relaxing week.

Sorry the blogs have been so few lately. Wifi is really spotty and slow here. Hopefully at the end of the month I’ll be able to update better.

Thank you so much for everyone who has supported me and financially supported me so far!! It has been such a blessing to be here.

Love
Karlena
