We have our first assignment in Ecuador!
My team will be in Quito, the capital of Ecuador for the month of January. Our ministry job is to work with kids and teenagers at risk, providing a secure place with food, helping with homework, crafts, etc. This is exactly what I love to do! I have no idea if it will actually be like I’m imagining, but I cannot wait. We have 20 days until Launch. Holy. Cow. It’s finally here!
Preparing for this next season has been interesting. I have surprisingly been pretty emotionless. Times when I would normally tear up every time I packed a box, left my house, said goodbye to work friends, hugged my mom…..I’ve been sentimental, but no breakdowns. I think this may be the Lord’s grace, because if I cried every time there was potential to, I think I would be emotionally stuck here and not ready to move forward. God has so graciously moved my heart on, over this year-long period of time. Don’t get me wrong. I anticipate crying from Christmas Eve until January 7th, when I board that plane. But for now, I have truly enjoyed packing up my house, visiting friends for the last time and being in my hometown for my last 3 weeks in America.
It’s really weird actually doing the last minute things that have been on my To Do List for months: making copies of my passport, loading up my pack for a test run, buying a year supply of Wet Ones, activating my travel card…all of these small, simple things are building up to my new life. There are just a few things I still need for my trip, but God has provided from places I would have never guessed and from people who love me so deeply I am overwhelmed.

- Pray for all of us as we leave our comfort and families behind to pursue God’s calling.
- Pray for our families who are truly grieving the loss of their sons, daughters, sisters and brothers for the next year.
- Pray for Quito, Ecuador and the people that we get to love on for a month! Pray that they would feel and come to know the real love and grace of Jesus from our short time with them.
