My World Race will not launch until January 2015, but I have been on a journey for the past year. After several different circumstances in my life shifting, God slowly shifted my heart as well. I had become complacent in my life and it is a good life. I get to see my family regularly, I love my roommates and our home, my job is absolutely my cup of tea and I get to invest in high school girls’ lives at church every week. I am so grateful for all of these things, but something has been lacking.

I prayed for 3 things over the past year: that God would send me somewhere new and adventurous, that He would surround me with an intimate community and that I would get to help hurting people every day. When I remembered the World Race, I knew instantly, THIS IS IT. Literally all 3 things I prayed for are coming true and in ways so much bigger than I imagined. I am overwhelmed by God’s answers to my prayers and so thankful for His grooming and calling.

What is the World Race? The World Race is a program within Adventures in Missions that takes groups of 21-35 year olds across the world to 11 countries in 11 months. (ONE YEAR- is anybody else freaking out about that or is it just me?!) We will travel in teams of 4-6 to a different country every month. We will be given jobs at each location that may vary from VBS, to working in an orphanage, to teaching English, to building a church, etc. I will live out of one backpack all year and will grow physically, emotionally and spiritually more than I probably ever have before. We will be taught and forced to trust the Holy Spirit above all else to work, speak, heal, provide and lead us every day!

Eating larvae, sleeping on the floor, living on a mountain, not wearing makeup, not really having a home may scare some people away, but those are just some of the things that excite me. Maybe its my inner-hippie. She tries to come out pretty often, but now she gets to stay for 11 months!

My Race will include:

Peru

Chile

Bolivia

India

Nepal

Malaysia

Thailand

Vietnam

Cambodia

Malawi

Zambia

Disclaimer: I have not had much luck with blogs in the past. I usually have grand ideas about things to write about and then when I sit down at the computer, I realize nothing is actually interesting enough to write. I don’t usually communicate my thoughts or feelings (often or well), but now it’s time – time to bare my heart and soul on the internet. Watch out.
