This weekend we got to spend some time in Siem Reap. Which is absolutely beautiful and calm. It was such a nice break from the craziness which is Phnom Penh. Siem Reap is a very touristy town. I would see groups of men traveling together, and wonder why they were here. It’s very hard not to judge people and condemn them in my head, especially under the circumstances of this trip and the knowledge I have of what goes on here. There is a part of me that wants to believe the best in everyone. That maybe there was some sporting event going on, and all those guys were participants and not sex tourists. Or that white guy and Asian woman were a legit couple, and he wasn’t exploiting her. But it’s not my job to judge, it’s YWH’s.

What Disneyland is to California, Angkor Wat is to Cambodia. When we first get there you have to buy a ticket $20 and they take a picture of you and put it on your ticket. This way you can’t sell your ticket to somebody else and they use it for the rest of the day. Angkor Wat used to be a Hindu temple, but then the Buddhist converted it to a Buddhist one.

It was so hard to look around Angkor Wat, and not be amazed by the Creator.

Walking around Angkor Wat I felt as if I was Indiana Jones, and the sounds that we heard, resembled the soundtrack that is played while you are waiting in line for that ride at Disneyland.
On the way back to the guest house, I listened to my MP3 player and the song “God of this City” was playing. Even though that song was birthed in a brothel in Thailand, it still rings true in Cambodia and all over the world.

You’re the God of this City
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are

You’re the Light in this darkness                          AMEN!
You’re the Hope to the hopeless                          AMEN!
You’re the Peace to the restless                           AMEN!
You are

There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God

For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City

Pray for great things for Cambodia!
