On the first day that we met our contacts they took us to the spa that they have. This gives the girls an opportunity to master a skill and to have a job to help them stay off the streets. We were treated to two services. I received a back massage and I got a manicure. The girls were so sweet, and we were really blessed by them. We came to Cambodia to serve them, and they were serving us instead. Funny, how that always seems to happen. I tried to communicate with my girl, but she didn’t speak English, and I don’t speak any Khmer. I tried to ask her what her name was, but I don’t think she understood what I was asking, so I just kept repeating what she was saying and she just giggled with me. But the one thing we did understand about each other were our smiles. After one attempt at trying to communicate and not succeeding, I just patted her back. I just wanted her to know that I appreciated her and that she is loved. She then got the nail polishes and asked me what color I would like. Yáll know how indecisive I am so I asked her to pick. At first, let’s be honest, I wasn’t too thrilled about the color. I mean, it wasn’t blue, it was a brownish/beige color. When she picked it I thought, “This is such a mom color”. But it turned out so well! She did a very good job!

Fast forward to today, one of my teammates and I volunteered to go move boxes at a center they have. We enter the building and we are met with all these girls working on making greeting cards- and my friend was there! She recognized me right away and got up and gave me a big hug and smile. She then went and got a chair for my teammate and  I, so that we could sit down. By just watching her body language I knew she was telling the other girls that she had painted my nails, and we kept on swapping smiles. 🙂

The Lord just keeps on reminding me that when it comes to love, there is no language barrier. He speaks them all, and He dwells in us. If we just follow His Spirit, we will be able to communicate His love.
