Tonight during worship, we were talking about how God prepares a banquet table before us in the presence of our enemies. Not just a small table, but a huge banquet table in the midst of our trials and in the middle of the enemy’s attacks. We just have to go to the table and take from it.
So, they asked us to envision our table in our minds and to see what God was preparing before us. Some people saw giant turkey dinners, some saw weapons on the table ready to fight battles ahead.
As I looked at my giant mahogany table, it started to change. My banquet table became a rotating sushi bar! What?! I began to ask God what that meant and he spoke and said for me to enjoy my time in Japan and be present. Be in the moment and don’t look to the future for future gifts.
I don’t know if you know anything about rotating sushi bars, but small plates of two pieces of sushi rotate around the room of all kinds! You take one plate at a time, so it’s small portions. God began to speak about how he was blessing me little by little. He was graciously allowing me to “try” all these new spiritual gifts, and to taste different forms of worship and even culture. But I wasn’t going to receive a giant plate filled with food, it would be a little at a time.
He also said this was because he wanted me to keep coming back to the table. Not to eat a ton, get full, and come back a week later. But to take a little at a time and be constantly mindful of the table that is set before me.
So, ask yourself the same question. What is God presenting you on your banquet table? My guess is that it is just what you need for this season. But don’t be afraid to dine with him. Sit near the savior in the presence of your enemies and feast on the blessings He desires to pour out.
