We just finished a month in Thailand. You heard about much of the ministry we did on my World Race blog. I wrote a little about the culture there, but to reiterate a few things, the king is very much revered and respected. When there is disagreement within the country, the king intervenes and whatever he said is done and there is peace. There is a small amount of violence, he allows other religions in Thailand, and is considered a very good king. Anyone who says something bad about the king could be kicked out of the country. The king has a lot of influence and power on the country of Thailand. After our ministry time in Buriram, we went back to Bangkok for debrief; to talk about our month, what God did, to pray for the country, and to hear how God worked through other teams in different areas. While in Bangkok, my dad had the opportunity to visit me for a few hours the night before we left! God worked it out – I have no doubt. He was there on business and we were there for one day at the same time. It was such a HUGE blessing to me – I can’t even explain how I felt!!
We arrived here at the YWAM base in Phnom Penh city on Thursday night around midnight. Since we arrived, we have had a chance to take a small tour of the city and learn about the history of Cambodia. The country has been through a lot even just in the past 30 years.
We will be leaving the YWAM headquarters early Tuesday morning, heading for Bavelle where we will do ministry for the next month in an orphanage with little or no electricity or running water. More information and details can be found on my previous posts.
Please pray for:
–Thailand, that the king would find Jesus and have a huge positive impact on the country for Christ
-Safety on our way to our ministry site
-Safety from malaria and other possible diseases in rural areas
-Support of my teammates to come in
-God’s wisdom this month on time management
-Continued team Unity
-For God to break our hearts for the Cambodian people
-To see things through God’s heart and eyes
**I will have limited and probably no internet access so you may not hear from me for another month.
