Today we had the opportunity to paint! Jenn, Renee, Caitlin, Heather, and I all got up and started our day off painting the front wall of the orphange from a pinkish/purple color to a light orange. We cleaned the walls, chipped the old paint, and covered it with a new fresh coat. As the morning rolled on, it didn’t take long for the paint to end up all over us like our arms, feet, sandals, running clothes, faces and so on…everywhere it doesn’t belong. We had fun doing it, but we worked hard to get as much done as possible before lunch.

While we were painting, Sarah (an awesome woman of God who has showed up to help at the orphange for a month) and Becky worked diligently inside all morning organizing the kids’ book shelves and toys. They felt like that was something God was calling them to do and knew it would help the kids out.

This morning was another time where God showed me how He was using me. When I’m not talking to people and sharing God’s word with someone, I have to remind myself that there are SO many other ways to minister and for God to use me. Since the walls were chipping a bit, painting the walls was something that encouraged everyone at the orphange. It also encouraged our group because we had fun singing and talking while working. God is so good!

That’s me painting! (yes, I’m actually working)

Something else God brought to mind as we were painting was the fact that when we come to know Him, He makes us new. We are a different color. He sees us differently; He sees us as clean and pure in His site.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…”
