It’s no coincidence that rain has come every day since we anointed the Haitian soil in the might name of Jesus Christ.  The first night it rained, I didn’t make the connection.  However, by nights two and three it was obvious – the Lord was blessing this country through the outpour of RAIN!  We believe that God will continue to pour out his blessing upon this country into the future.

Let’s rewind a bit to October 1, 2012 – the day we travelled from Santo Domingo, DR to Carrefour, Haiti.

My team of 6 women left Azua, DR by way of bus.  We were picked up by our squad-mates around 6:00am at the center of town.  We squeezed into an already packed bus and travelled westward to Santo Domingo, where we would have to transfer busses.

When we arrived at the bus depot, we waited outside until time to board.  I remember walking onto the charter bus and thinking how nice it was – there were outlets to charge our iPods, computers, and cameras, there was a restroom, and AC!  It wasn’t until a few hours later when I noticed how dirty and dusty the bus was.  I looked down at my black yoga pants, which now looked gray rather than black; my backpack and purse were also filthy.

When we crossed the Haitian border, it was obvious that this country lacked a good, hard rain; not only was the earth extremely dry, but dust literally covered everything and everyone.  With each passing motorcycle and vehicle, more dust was kicked up into the air and it would continue floating for quite some time.

“If it only rained – the dust would settle!”  Thoughts like this constantly filled our minds.

The first few days in Carrefour were extremely hot.  There was no relief from the heat, not even in the late night hours.  Never have I sweat so much while just sitting inside or while sleeping!

Every night – like clockwork – the sky would illuminate with lightning; but no rain followed.

We would ask one another why it rained in the DR but not in Haiti.  How could these two countries, which shared the same island, be so different?  Azua was surrounded by various shades of green vegetation and it rained on several occasions, mostly during the day.  Here, in Carrefour, one would have to search for the slightest hint of green; everything was brown and dried out.

The lightning continued night after night, almost like clockwork; but no rain followed.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, the atmosphere shifted.

Pastor Wilnord had a few friends in the mountains he wanted us to pray for.  Team Dunamisses loves any opportunity to pray for people, so this was right up our alley.  We quickly loaded 17 girls into a small tap-tap; we all squeezed together like sardines, but there wasn’t a single complaint.  We all actually enjoyed the drive – we passed the time by singing at the top of our lungs to “oldies”, observing new sites, and getting to know each other more deeply.

Our first stop was at a small village where Pastor Wilnord’s cousin envisions opening a clinic by the end of the year.  This village was also the epicenter of the earthquake.  We meet and prayed over the family, the atmosphere, and over the land.

Since arriving in Carrefour, Jessica had been quite sick and even lost her voice.  It seemed as though the enemy was after her and was trying to attack a vital part of her gifting.  Jessica knew that when she got her voice back God wanted her to anoint the ground in Jesus name.

While we visited the clinic, Jessica regained full use of her vocal chords.

Jessica rallied all 17 girls together and shared her vision of us anointing the ground.  She wanted us to take a firm stand against the enemy, cut-off all power the enemy possessed and commit the soil to Jesus.  She felt strongly that this would not only to bless the clinic we were praying over, but also the entire country.

Liz spoke up and shared her desire to lay hands on a nearby tree, but thought she was crazy until Jessica shared her vision.  While Liz hugged her tree, the rest of us found a patch of soil to lay our hands on and pray over.  Jessica poured the whole bottle of oil out, dedicating the Haitian soil to Jesus.

I prayed a verse over Haiti:

Instead of shame and dishonor,
You will enjoy a double share of honor.
You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land,
And everlasting joy will by yours!
Isaiah 61:7

After returning home for the night, it happened again – like clockwork – the night’s sky illuminated with lightning, only this time RAIN followed!  It started out rather lightly; the longer it rained, the harder it fell.  With it, came cool air and a sweet breeze!

The next evening (Thursday, October 10), Liz worshipped the Lord on the roof.  On her iPod played the song, “Beautiful Things”.  She was dancing and jumping around while the song played.  Then, the Lord spoke to her and said:

“No longer will I turn my back on Haiti – they now have my favor”.

Then, it happened again – like clockwork – the night’s sky illuminated with lightning; RAIN followed for a second time!  It started out rather lightly; the longer it rained, the harder it fell.  With it, came cool air and a sweet breeze!

Soon after the rain began falling, I made the connection.  The rain fell because we anointed the earth to the Lord and God’s blessing lies in the rain.  It’s through rain that life is sustained!

During our nightly feedback session on Friday, October 12, my team was gathered in the back bedroom; the door, like usual, was open to help with airflow through the house.

Then, it happened again – like clockwork – the night’s sky illuminated with lightning.  This time, thunder crackled simultaneously; the RAIN followed for a third time!  The rain fell hard and fast while the strong wind blew it inside!  We immediately jumped to our feet to close the door.  The hard rain brought cool air, which was nothing short of a sweet treat!

Three nights of rain!  It’s nothing short of a miracle!  It’s definitely not a coincidence.  The Lord’s favor has returned to this country!

**Since writing this blog, we're up to 5 nights of rain in a row!  Praise Jesus!**
