I have also been awake for 36 hours (partially my choice) and will not be going to bed for several more hours.
This is what travel days look like on the race, and we didn't even travel a significant distance.
Our squad split in half while traveling today: early group and late group.
I had the pleasure of traveling with the early group.
We left the hotel at 3 am in order to check in 30 people and get through security.
Luckily everything went smoothly, without any problems, and we had lots of time to spare.
We flew from Chicago to Miami, Miami to Santo Domingo, DR.
We arrived in the DR around 3 pm; however, It's now 9 pm and we are still waiting for the late group to arrive.
They arrive around 10 pm. At that point, we will all load into buses and drive to our ministry locations.
Some teams have a 5 hour bus ride tonight; we, however, only have a two and a half hour ride, which will apparently drop us off at the front door of Pastor Raul's house.
We are excited to meet our ministry contact and find out exactly what we will be doing this month.
Whatever it is, we know that the Lord has called us, equipped us, strengthened us, given us his power and authority over any spirits opposed to us. The Lord has prepared the way, he's here with us now, and he will be here when we leave to continue the work.
My team spent time in prayer last night. We made the conscious decision to worship and pray over getting a few hours of sleep. It was actually a big sacrifice considering the long day of travel ahead. And honestly, we couldn't have made a better choice. I firmly believe when you choose the Lord over anything else, he will reward you, and our ministry will flourish this month because of that choice. This time of worship and prayer occurred around 1 am. We were all very tired, but the Lord enabled us to push through the droopy eyelids. He filled us with his joy and has united us together for a common purpose.
