I'm leaving on the Race in 10 days! Where did time go?!? Seems like I committed to the race just yesterday; however, on the other hand, it feels like an eternity has passed because I’ve been waiting to go for so long.
During this season of preparation, I've been asked some funny questions after explaining what the race is. Here are the top two questions I’ve been asked:
Are you scared, afraid, or fearful?
Let’s be real – the darkness IS scary! But I’ve chosen not to allow the enemy to intimidate me. I know the Lord has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I’ve chosen to stand on a firm foundation built on the truth of God.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
And bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom
I’m not sure how people expect me to answer this! How can I possibly know what will happen over the next 11 months – I will be a completely different person when I get back. I’m not the only one who will have changed – everyone and everything at home will be different too. I’ve also discovered that God’s plans are radically different than any I could create for myself. When I make my own plans, he usually leads me in another direction.
But the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
Proverbs 19:21
John 10:10
If you cling to your life, you will lose it;
But if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
Matthew 10:39
"I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I just lived the LENGTH of it.
I want to have lived the WIDTH of it as well!"
If you’re not ready to get wrecked and broken for Jesus . . . . .
Don’t go on a missions trip.
If you’re not ready to FEEL the depths of God's heart on a new level . . . . .
Don’t go on a missions trip.
If you’re not ready to be stretched and to grow . . . . .
Don’t go on a missions trip.
If you’re not ready to touch the untouchable, love the unlovable and sit with the poor and learn from them . . . . .
Don’t go on a missions trip.
If you’re not ready to be uncomfortable . . . . .
Don't go on a missions trip.
If you’re not ready to lay down your life for the sake of others . . . . .
Really don’t go on a missions trip.
The moment you go, your life will never be the same, your perspective will never be the same, your heart will never be the same . . . . .
So if you’re content in where you are with Jesus . . . . . or with the status quo . . . . .
Really, don’t go on a missions trip!
What do you plan on doing when you get back:
Because I'm going on a missions trip!
I'm ready to get wrecked and broken for Jesus . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus!
I'm ready to FEEL the depths of God's heart on a new level . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus!
I'm ready to be stretched and to grow . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus!
I'm ready to touch the untouchable, love the unlovable and sit with the poor and learn from them . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus!
I'm ready to be uncomfortable . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus!
I'm ready to lay down my life for the sake of others . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus!
I'm going because the moment I go, my life will never be the same, my perspective will never be the same, my heart will never be the same . . . . .
I'm going because I'm not content in where you are with Jesus . . . . . or with the status quo . . . . .
And so I'm going on a journey with Jesus like no other!
