Well, my time on the Race is over. I have learned so much this past year. I have changed so much over the course of these last 11 months. While I was beyond excited to get home, I was nervous too. I know America has been my normal for the vast majority of my life, but coming off of this year you just don’t go back seeing things the same.

This was a year about learning to live in community. This year taught me to see God in a different way. I feel like I really understand him more as God the father than I ever had before. This year taught me how important discipleship is and how important it is to surround yourself with people who are willing to call you up into being more like Christ. Because I learned these things I want to bring them home and share it those I love.

But I feel that there are still things for me to grow in. So I prayed and asked God where I should go next.

It is for this reason I have decided to join The Center for Global Action (CGA). CGA is a discipleship training program put on by Adventure in Missions, the same organization that does The World Race. CGA will help me continue the growth process that I started on the Race and serve as a bridge from holy brokenness to empowerment in what God has called me to.  At this time I have committed to CGA for 1 year. The program starts at the end of January and is located in Gainesville, Georgia.

As an apprentice at CGA my time will be split between hands on experience working in a large, successful non-profit and taking class to better build a plan for the ministry God has called me to. I am really excited about getting to work in a non-profit because I know that is one thing God has called me to in the future, when I open a pregnancy center. The three big focuses of CGA are community, discipleship, and apprenticeship.  As hard as living in community is at times, it is something I have grown to love being on the Race. I believe living in community with people who have experienced similar things as I have this year is going to help me assimilate back into American culture better, as well as continue to facilitate and rounding out the growth that started in my this past year.

CGA is a support raised program and will cost $600 a month. So to complete my year I would need to raise $7,200. In order to even go I have to raise $1,200 by January 20th, the start date of the program.  The money raised helps cover my housing as well as a small stipend I get every month to help with some expenses. I will also be working a part time job to help cover the rest of my expenses. As with the Race, this is where God is asking me to go next so I trust Him to provide the funds. I will be planning fundraisers in the near future, but for now if you would like to help out, you can click the link on the left hand side of this blog that says “Help Support my Next Adventure.”

Thank you so much for all your support this year.  The Race wouldn’t have been possible without you.  I look forward to seeing all of you who I have seen yet, and to get to share my stories with all of you.
