As you read about these children and see videos about Haiti I know that many of you are wondering “how can I help?” I know that these kids have touched my heart personally and I too wonder, How can I help? I am 23 years old, not even close to 35 (the age to adopt from Haiti) or even have a real job for that matter! But I still want to do something for the kids I have fallen in love with. So here is the information I received from
Chris when we talked to her about needs the kids have at this time. Here
are the things they are most in need of:
-Personal hygiene items
-Girls bras: sizes 32-36 ALL cup sizes
-Training bras
-Girls underwear: sizes 8 years old and up
-Hair supplies: rubber bands (black are best), hair barrettes, and those hair bands with
balls on the ends of them
-Deodorant
-Socks-all sizes for kids SCHOOL age
-Tennis shoes for girls AND boys all sizes for school age kids
-School supplies
-Pencils and sharpeners
-Erasers
-Kids activity books (dot to dot, tracing for ABC’s etc)
-Twin size sheets and pillow cases
-Bath towels
-Anything for boys and girls that could be used as Christmas presents
**If
you do not have much money to give, something that is cheap and still
very useful is the Koolaid mixes in individual packets**
**They have enough baby supplies and enough medicine at this time**
This is the address to send items to:
H.I.S. Home For Children
100 Airport Ave., PAP 16044
Venice, FL 34285
You
will be sending your packages to Venice, FL where they will then be
shipped internationally from there. When Chris and Hal pick up your
package in Haiti they must pay $2 per pound in order to receive it. If
you can, it is helpful to help cover this cost by sending a check to
their office in the States for the amount your package will cost to
pick up.
Address for check to cover pick up charges:
Hal and Chris Nungester
3172 W. Breese Rd.
Lima, Ohio 45806
Other ways you can support these kids:
- It
costs 3,000 per year to put one child in an English school here in
Haiti. Especially for kids at this orphanage this helps them
tremendously! When they get adopted and move to the states they tend to
be behind in school and this private school offers a much better
education they any other school in Haiti. - You can sponsor a child for $50 a month. You can do this by going to the website (www.hishomeforchildren.com) and click on ‘Sponsorship’ and contact Lola.
If
you would like to contact Chris and Hal for further question down the
road, here is there email address!
