Hola mis amigos!
So the past few days we have been doing Vacation Bible School for the children. So far we have told them the story of David and Goliath, Noah’s Ark, and The Good Samaritan. We have been acting out each of the stories for them and having the translator rely the message. It has been a lot of fun. The kids have been being more and more active. Afterwards we ask them question about the stories and they are all understanding the messages we are giving them.
The kids like to fight and some have come from homes where their parents beat them and they repeat the actions they have been taught. Our main message this week has been courage. Having courage to do what is right or what God would want even when people might make fun of you or be mean. We taught the kids Joshua 1:9 “For I command you, Be strong and couragous, Do not be terrified, for the Lord your God is with you where ever you go.” We are really trying to teach the kids not to fight and to do the right thing, be couragous!
After we have story time we teach the kids songs! They have been really enjoying this and getting into it! Which has been fun watching the kids play when we aren’t doing VBS and sing these songs! Then after song we play games! Yesterday we played Elbow Tag which was a big hit!!!! Then we tried the LIMBO hahaha Epic FAIL! They aren’t too excited about staying in lines and waitint their turn 🙂
We have also been doing home visits. Going from house to house and visitng and chatting with people about their lives and Jesus. This has been something new for me and I haven’t quite gotten comfortable with this yet. But it has been fun listening to different cultures perspectives and hearing their story!
Monday I believe we will be digging a canal to help with the flow of water for the city. Team Reckless that is working with us dug last night and accidently hit a PVC pipe and busted a water line! So that was interesting trying to get it to stop but I guess we willl know if our canal works if we bust pipes with water in them to fill the canal! haha
