2 Corinthians 5:4-9

For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

-Sometimes I get these feelings that I cant even begin to explain. Its kind of like when you know you are craving something, only your not exactly sure what that something is and you cant place your finger on it. Or like when you feel anxious, but there is nothing to be anxious about… This entire passage pretty much summed it up for me, but verse 4 and 6 really spoke to me…

4- “For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.”

6- ” Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.”

-I believe I now have a better understanding of what those feelings are… Whether or not we realize it, believer or unbeliever… We are designed to always crave the Lords presence. Its almost like we are homesick and our spirit is constantly longing to leave this body and to be present with the Lord.

I believe the void that comes along with being present in the body and away from the Lord can only fully be filled once we are seated in the heavenlys. However if we allow, He does satisfy but as humans we are always looking for the things of the world that will satisfy us, rather than going to the Lord with our void and allowing Him to fill it.

2 Corinthians 5:13-15

If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind it is for you.

-When someone says you are out of your mind, it usually means that you are crazy and I never thought I would want that to be said to me. But if being out of your mind means having it focused on the things of the Lord instead of the things of the world… Than my desire is to be “out of my mind.”

So… What would our lives begin to look like if everytime we felt a craving or felt anxious we turned to the Lord for our satisfaction instead of the things of the world?

2 Corinthians 5:13-15

If we are out of our mind it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind it is for you. for Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.
