Commitment

One thing that I have done throughout the course of my Race is read. I love reading, especially mysteries, but each month I read a Christian study. This month I started reading The Strength You Need by Robert Morgan. In this book Morgan talks about different passages of Scripture that are in regard to strength and the promise God has given us to provide us strength for each individual day.

In the second chapter Morgan talks about 2 Chronicles 16:9 “The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” This is an amazing promise. God is telling us that He promises to strengthen all who’s hearts are fully committed to Him.

The chapter goes on to talk about raising your Ebenezers and re-committing your life to Christ after every significant occasion in life. Not because we need to in order to keep our salvation, but so that our eyes stay focused on the One who gave us life.

Here I raise my ebenezer, hither by Thy help I’ve come; and I hope by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.

Reading this chapter, meditating on what it said, I journaled a prayer and I want to share it with all of you.

Lord, I commit myself to You. Not because I need to, but because I want to. I want to continually, for the rest of my life, keep my eyes and my focus on You. You have taken me over mountains, through valleys, through storms and into deep waters. Lord, take me deeper still. Lord, you want more of me and I desperately want more of You. Take me deeper. Help me never forget who You are, who You say I am and what You’ve done for me. Lord, let me not forget what You are continually doing for me.

Lord, here I raise my ebenezer. You are my strength and my joy and I give You my life. I want every moment of my days to be filled with glorifying You. For praising Your holy name and sharing Your joy and light to every one around me.

I give You my heart, my soul, my life. Do with it what You will.

Trust, Love and Pouring Out

If you struggle with trusting others as I do at times, then this is for you.

“Brethren, beloved by God, He chose you.” 1 Thessalonians 1:4 [modified]

Jesus chose to trust Judas even though He knew Judas would betray Him. Jesus chose to pour into Judas, to be vulnerable with him, choose him, even though He knew Judas would reject him. How much more so should we then, choose to trust and love all those around us even if they betray us, reject us, hurt us. How much more so should we do this all for the One who chose us. Jesus chose to love us. To love every broken person, die for every person, even though He knew that people would reject His sacrifice.

Love others. Commit yourself to God and to giving Him to others no matter if others reject or betray you. Love them through the rejection.

Choose to love. Choose to trust. Choose to honor God by pouring out because He first poured out for us.

Till Next Time,
