Valentines Day is a day of love. One of my teammates, Meagan, put it beautifully. She said “Valentines day is all about love and God is love so essentially, Valentine’s day is God’s day.”
We wanted to celebrate the young women here and love them well. Every night at 7pm the children get put to bed and we are able to spend some time with them until 9pm when their curfew hits. I have enjoyed my time with them these nights and it has always varied in what we end up doing. However, my team planned a Galentine’s Night for the evening of Valentines day.
It was so much fun! We put on the new Cinderella (which I had never seen before), brought out nail polish, and made a facial out of avocados and yogurt.
We painted each others nails, applied facials to each other and enjoyed the movie together. It was a time of fellowship, but in doing this with them and allowing them to be girls and let go of some of the responsibility they carry so often I saw walls break down. I’ve seen friendships form even stronger bonds, and I saw the girls smiles reach their eyes.
Below are a few photos from the party, I hope you enjoy!

Till Next Time,
