The men of God that I have chosen to honor this month are vastly different in many ways. And the man being honored today truly reflects that diversity.
#7 Larry Eason. The first thing I think of when I hear the name Larry Eason, is a trunk. That’s right! A trunk. My earliest memory of Larry was when I was 13. Larry was a chaperone on a youth outing. When we stopped by Burger King before we headed home, I was in the back of a station wagon where Larry was helping the youth get out. When it was my turn, Larry pushed me back in and said “no, you aren’t allowed to come in.” I was devastated. And I continue to let him know it to this day! So you may be wondering why such a man should be honored. Well, I wasn’t really devastated and knew that Larry was just joking. After all, he did let me out, eventually. But that is the thing about Larry, he loves to joke around like that. Larry may have a rough, tough exterior, but when you get to know the man, you see the heart of Christ inside of him (Shhhh, don’t tell him I said that). He has been a school bus driver for Hannibal school district for many years, and recently my niece and nephews had the opportunity to be passengers on his bus. They absolutely adored Larry. And when he talks about them, it is clear that even after just one year, they have made an impact on him as well. Larry may joke around about how annoying I am and how I need to be quiet, but Larry has many times, in a truly deep and compassionate way, prayed for me. Among the most recent times it has been for my upcoming trip on the World Race. Larry truly is a man worth honoring.
