This little angel is Ivy. She was born too early and too small. Malnourished and covered in scabies, she was brought to Sarah’s Covenant Home. She weighed only 2.4 kilos or 5 pounds and was 2 months old.

She is almost 4 months old now and I have been so blessed to “adopt” her for the month. I have watched her blossom and grow. I rejoice like a proud mommy when she rolls over by herself.

I squealed and shouted, “Look at my baby” when she held her head up for the first time. Her smile has the power to turn me to a pile of mush, and when she falls asleep on my chest my heart could burst with love.

Ivy has big bright eyes that take in the world around her. She studies everyone and everything. When she looks at you, she will furrow her eyebrows and scratch her head like a scientist trying to figure out a complicated problem. She is a fighter in every sense of the word. She fights sleep, baths, diaper changes and she fought to stay alive.

I love this little girl so much. Seeing her smile when she recognizes me in the morning, is the best part of my day. As much as I adore her, I shouldn’t be the one she smiles at. I shouldn’t be the one rejoicing over her milestones. She should be with her parents in a family that takes way to many pictures of her and shows everyone they can.

My heart breaks for the parents that gave up the chance to see this beautiful girl grow up. They are missing her morning smiles and they will miss her first steps and her first words.

We live in a broken world and things aren’t how they are meant to be. Sin runs deep in every heart and in every culture. But wandanaalu (praise the Lord) we have a Savior. We have a Father who loves us and never misses our smiles or first steps. He sent His son to die for our sin so we could be adopted into His family and spend eternity with our loving Abba.

And praise the Lord for organizations like SCH that love the Lord and follow His calling to give babies like Ivy the love they deserve. This month, with Ivy and SCH, has forever changed me. Please pray for Ivy and the other children who call SCH home. And pray for their parents, who are missing the blessings that these children are.

SCH gives the best to these kids. In order to to that that the kids need monthly sponsors. If you would like to be a monthly sponsor for Ivy please go to her SCH page http://www.schindia.com/children/ivy/

Help give this girl the love she so badly needs and deserves.
