As you many know, I will be graduating from Texas A&M, with a degree in International Studies, in December. I have learned so much, not just academically but personally and spiritually as well. God has completely changed my life here. He has given me passions I never had and an excitement for Him and His Gospel like never before. While at A&M, He has broken my heart for the nations, and opened my eyes to the need for His saving grace and love. My freshman year He brought to my attention The World Race, an amazing opportunity to serve Him and to love His children all over the world. After 4 years of prayer and many hard discussions, I feel like God is leading me to go. So I am going! In July 2013 I will launch on this amazing race (not the TV show).
The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission journey to 11 countries around the world. On the Race, my squad and I will partner with local ministries and churches to serve in orphanages, plant churches, and rescue women and children out of human trafficking and prostitution. With only the possessions we can fit in a backpack, we will live and work with the local communities. Our work will include anything from preaching and teaching to pouring concrete and plowing fields. While we experience their culture and customs, we will share with them the most important thing in our lives, the Gospel of God’s amazing grace.
I am so excited about this opportunity! As I look back on my life I am so amazed and humbled to see the way God has led me here. He has placed so many people in my life who have shaped me into the woman I am now. I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much for the impact you have already had on my life.
I want to invite you to be apart of my next chapter. I can’t do this alone. My biggest request is for prayer. This is a big life decision, and with it come many blessings and obstacles. Prayer is a powerful tool. I love that we serve a God who wants us to talk to Him about our lives, and who faithfully answers in His timing. I have included a prayer card with some ways you can be praying for my squad and me.
For the whole year, the World Race costs $15,500. That includes all the travel, food and accommodations while on the Race. I also have to buy travel heath insurance, a flight to launch & training camp, and the gear I will need (backpack, tent, sleeping bag etc). To earn as much as I can on my own, I am working as a preschool Sunday school teacher at a Korean Church, and an English tutor to international students. After graduation I plan on working full time or multiple jobs, until I leave in July. I believe that this is where the Lord wants me and I have faith He will provide. Would you prayerfully consider helping me in this journey? You have the option to give a one-time donation or commit to a monthly donation. If 26 people commit to $50 a month for a year I will be fully funded. But any little bit will help.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. If you would like to know more about the World Race and my decision to go you can read and subscribe to my blog, kalinquigley.theworldrace.org. Feel free to call me at 405-501-3205 or email at [email protected] with any questions.
