Dear faithful WR supporters,
I’ve been home from the race for over two years, and I never thought I’d have a reason to return to this blog… but I’m so glad that the Lord’s plans are always bigger and better than mine!
The people I served alongside on the World Race changed me forever, and not a day goes by that I don’t remember their precious faces and stories. I pray for them and long for them, and now God has given me a way to invite you once more to be a part of blessing them!!
I recently learned of a new app called DonorSee, which you can download to your phone. It looks a lot like Instagram when you scroll through, but each photo is a specific need from different countries in the world. When you donate, you’ll get notifications when the need is funded, and the poster will always post follow up photos of your money being spent on that specific need. It’s awesome!
I got really excited about the potential of this app and reached out to many of my old World Race contacts to tell them about it. Two of them have messaged me personally to ask for my help posting pressing needs.
First, I heard from the founder of El Shaddai in Swaziland. (I wrote two blogs about my time there here.)
She said that they’ve lost some big donors lately and were extremely short on funds. In particular, they needed textbooks for the homeschooled kids who have big hopes of going to college.
I posted on DonorSee and we are now 56% funded! She’s started to purchase books with the money that’s come through so far, and I’ve posted those pictures in DonorSee. Click here to check it out!
Next, I heard from the pastor who hosted my team in Thailand. He has a special place in my heart, because we went there after our most trying month of the race. It’s also where I spent my only Christmas away from home. He was an incredible man of God and treated us like his children. He still likes leaving “God bless” comments on our Facebook posts almost three years later!
He travels far and wide to pastor churches in THREE cities across rural Thailand every weekend and has healthy and thriving congregations. Now, a cataract in his right eye is preventing him from being able to see. As you can imagine, that affects his ability to travel and minister.
He can’t afford the surgery because he currently owes the bank money for the construction of one of his churches. He receives no support from any outside agencies or denominations and is trusting God to provide. I have posted his story and need here.
These two ministries and the people behind them mean the world to me. They took me in and treated me like family when I was supposed to be the one serving them. Now, they need our help.
I’m humbled and honored and joyful to be a tiny part in what God is doing in and through them in Swaziland and Thailand. Please check out their stories, give if you can, cover them in prayer, and share like crazy!
With love,
Kaleigh
