to God
This is a very hard thing to actually do,
especially if you have a mild case of A.D.D. like me. My mind jumps from one thing to
the next. It is very hard to just sit and listen to God speak to me without
thinking of something or doing anything (like reading the Bible, writing in my
journal, or listening to my Ipod). Tom Sipling our Squad coach challenged us to
just go sit somewhere and listen to the voice of God. The learning process has
been difficult and probably will continue to be, but just sitting in God’s
presence in silence makes Him happy. Jesus went off by himself often to a quiet place and we are called to be
like Christ. So why aren’t we practicing this often as well? As this next year passes I want to focus and
spend time in silence with Him, just listening to what He is telling me to do.
Some Christians get words from God and
others pictures or phrases when seeking Him. In my case God speaks to me
through people. I’m not saying this is the only way He speaks to me, but so far
in my life this is how it’s been most noticeable. I pray that He would speak to
me directly, that I would listen to Him, and not think it is some random
thought in my mind. I will continue seeking His voice by sitting in His
presence. God sends brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage me, pray over
me, and to speak truth into my life. That is from God. I’m so thankful that
these people listen to God and obey what He is telling them to speak over me.
God’s timing is perfect and always when I need it the most. I know God is always right there and it is so
amazing that He loves each one of us so deeply that He wants to encourage His
children to continue on His plan for our lives.
I really want to encourage YOU to just sit and listen to God speak
to you. If He is telling you to pray or encourage someone, OBEY Him because that person might be like me and need to hear
God’s voice through you.
