Today I woke up and knew God was going to do a huge work in
my life. Not sure of
the specifics, I began praying and reflecting over the past three weeks. I am changed because…
I have looked in the
eyes of God’s children and come to see a new 
side of Him that I have never
known. We are all created in God’s
image. Therefore, we are all a
reflection of who He is. And let
me tell you, the children of the community we are working in are different than
any other children I have ever encountered. Their eyes reveal a new depth of the jealousy that God has for
our affection. Their laughter
reveals His genuineness in joy despite circumstances. Their strength exposes my deep need for God despite my own
strength.
I have been used as
God’s hands and feet. It is an
honor to get to do life in the Dominican Republic. I am not on a mission trip. I am simply doing what God has called us to do, while living
out of a backpack. Ministry has
not stopped when we are done playing with the children, teaching English, or praying
over the community. No, being God’s
hands and feet has penetrated to encountering His Beloved in the markets, the
hotel I get internet at, the American teenagers on a mission trip, the Mormons
that are trying to convert us and my roommates and teammates. I am not on a mission trip. I am simply living the life He has
called for me, and you as well.
I have been romanced
by my Creator. On Sunday we
went this village outside of
San Juan and every petal of every flower that I
passed, ever shade of green that graced every branch that I saw, and every tune
of wildlife that sang to our steps were a reflection of God’s intimate love for
me. The strength of the mountains
in the distance and the joy of the clouds on the horizon brought life and a
refreshing reminder of his deep, intimate, and genuine love for me. I dare you to allow God to romance you. I believe He romances us all differently. Despite how He romances each of us, let Him be your first love. You are His Beloved, You are His bride. Praise the Lord!
These reflections are only a fraction of what God has been doing and is doing. And I have not even touched the surface of today! In other words, stay tuned for the next post to read about what God did
