Verse of the Month: “Even Gentile’s, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know His law when they instinctively obey it, without even having heard it.”
Romans 2:14
Favorite Food: Ok, here has been my entire menu for the month:
- Rice
- Bread
- Cabbage
- Beans
- Snacks: Popcorn, onion rings, fried grasshoppers, deep fried bread, and cake.
* Nothing added or taken away… And somehow, I haven’t really tired of these things.
Hardship of the Month: Kedesh Sanctuary is operated under the Old Law of the Bible. Therefore, we observe the Sabbath and Shebat Shalom, among other Old Testament practices. It hasn’t been hard to do these things (Example: not cooking on the Sabbath but making bread the day before), but in fact I have kind of enjoyed it. The hard part has been deciding what I really believe based upon that the Word says. So many of my traditions have been challenged this month. But challenging things, when it comes to faith, only makes you stronger when you seek answers. Those who seek shall find.
Our Ministry: I have been living in an orphanage, playing with the boys, hoeing the fields, having Bible studies, planting trees, having water fights, watching Lost, and cleaning. This has been my favorite ministry so far on the Race. I am going to have a hard time leaving.
Favorite Moments: (1) One of the boys, Franke, looking at me and saying, “I really love you”. (2) Our first assignment gone wrong: We planted a bunch of trees, only to have them be completely dead the next day. It was a graveyard of Butterfly Bushes. (3) African church service. (4) Long talks up in the water tower. (5) Dance off with the boys! (6) Going to the Bridge of the Blind and looking to the eyes of a man who saw for the first time… Best moment so far!
What God Taught Me: I have a lot to learn. I know that I will always be learning more about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit until the day I die. I am never going to be satisfied with the amount of knowledge I have of Him. I’ll also never stop wanting more Spirit in my life. It’s all about the journey… That’s the phrase for the month… It’s all about the journey.
