As I was taking a walk on the beach, I asked the Lord to reveal something about himself to me through the rocks and the ocean. In May there was a giant swell that displaced thousands of rocks onto the beach. Unfortunately for me that meant there wasn’t any sand to walk on…just rocks.

I walked for probably 25 minutes before the ocean wouldn’t allow me to walk any further. So, I found a giant rock (aka my Jesus Rock) and sat looking out into the ocean. Wave after wave came splashing onto the shore.

It was in that moment I felt the Lord begin to speak to me.

He said, my love for you is like the ocean and you my children are the rocks. The rocks that are the furthest from the ocean, they never get splashed by the tide. Next are the rocks that only get a few drops here and there when the tide is extra high. Then there are the rocks that continually get soaked by each wave that comes in. And finally, there are the rocks completely in the ocean that never get a breath of air.

He told me that we get to choose how much of His love we are willing to experience. Whether we never feel it, only get a few drops, are soaked time and time again, or never leave his Love. But no matter where we lie on the beach, there is so much more Love for us to experience. When we are on the shore we only experience the smallest glimpse of his Love. But, his love truly goes on for miles and miles, further than we can see or imagine. He is simply waiting for us to dive in.

So, I ask you…Which rock are you on the beach? Will you allow God to take you deeper into His love?
