Hello! Has anyone ever noticed that during those moments when you're supposed to tell about yourselves, you just end up clamming up and pretty much forgetting even your own name? That's what's happening here.. There's so much pressure that comes along with this "About" tab! Ok.. Breathe..

My name's Kaitlyn Elizabeth Forbes 🙂 I'm from a small town in Ontario, Canada called New Dundee – for those of you who don't know, that's about an hour and a half from Toronto. I've lived there for almost the full 20 years of my existence, sooo I guess you could say I consider it home. I was so blessed to be raised in a Christian home by two loving parents who love Jesus and who also passed that love onto me and my baby sister (ok so she's not really a baby anymore… considering she's only 17 month younger than me). I can't say my relationship with Jesus was all sunshine and lollipops. He sure had His work cut out for Him when it came to me. But thank the Lord that He's faithful – He never let me go through more than I could handle and looking back on my rebellious years I can see Him constantly by my side, holding my hand and carrying me through the roughest patches.

Last year, after a little kicking and screaming, I went out to beautiful British Columbia for 8 months of Bible School. As much as I dreaded going, the Lord ended up using those 8 months to break me and remold me into the woman who He can use to change the world into His Kingdom. And that's what He's going to do over the 11 months that I will be travelling on the World Race!! I believe that God used my time at bible school to bring me back to Him and remind me of how much He loves me. He awakened in me a passion for people, travel, missions, and Him. He took me to India for 2 and a half weeks in March of 2012, and since then I haven't stopped hurting for the people I met there who are so far away from the Truth. God put in me His heart, leading me to proclaim Him and His love both here in Canada and in countries all over the world.

For anyone reading this, I hope that my journey over the 11 months that I will be travelling, and my journey over the next several months as I prepare for this trip, will be an encouragement to you. It still amazes me that God can use a broken human being like me to do such amazing things, but He can. Thank you for reading and I hope you keep up with my blog! Fingers crossed that I get more comfortable with this blogging thing… 🙂

PS: I love kittens, reading, my family and friends, and food. I also like clothes way too much (I have too many), so this trip will definitely be a learning experience in that way… I'm hoping to return as the ultimate minimalist!
