I remember stressing about what in the world I was going to bring with me to travel for nine months. I spent one day just shoving stuff in my big pack (65 liters) that I thought I would need. I picked out every outfit I could imagine and tried to come up with scenarios in which I would need all the clothes I brought. I loaded up on shampoo, conditioner and soap. My pack was filled to the brim
I now sit in my new little home with hair that hasn’t been washed for over a week, a dingy (but also super stylish) flannel that I bought from the market, a clean makeup free face and a pair of ripped jeans
It’s simple and I’m happy.
People told me that leaving the country for this long amount of time I would be so much more grateful for what I have and it would be weird for me to live with so little. Those people were right I am so grateful for everything I have, the tons I’ve grown up with and being here has made me appreciate that 100x more. But I’ve also realized something better, something more valuable then the 50 pounds of stuff I brought with me. Living life with less makes room for so much more. For me this has been physically, emotionally and spiritually.
So yeah it’s weird but in the funnest, crazy and sometimes smelliest way.
It’s simple and I’m happy.
“And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness” -Romans 8:10
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us….Nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” -Romans 8:37-39
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”-1 Corinthians 15:57
When you give your life to God you die to your old self. It’s like becoming a new creation or something (hey-o). With God everything is possible (okay another cliche saying but hey it’s true). I’m only in month 3 (time is freaking flying by) and I’ve learned so much about God and myself. Living a simple life has given be more room and what better way to fill it then with the love of the lord? Gods love is something we can have and take everywhere we go and what makes it even better is that no one can take that away from us. I am grateful for this life, this simple and happy life.
Sending my love from Albania
