Over the past couple of weeks I have been spending ample amounts of time sitting in front of my laptop with a empty word document.
Writing stuff and then quickly hitting the backspace button to erase whatever monstrosity I thought would actually make for a good blog.
I’ve read so many of my teammates blogs (which are amazing by the way) and even gotten on good ole Pinterest to try and scrounge up some ideas yet still nothing.

Well I was driving around the other day and commercials came on the radio which for me means changing the station as soon as possible because let’s be honest I’m listening to the radio to jam not hear people talk but the lady started talking about how she has been struggling with comparing herself to others. I was like SAME GIRL.

Some daily thoughts:
“They are taller than me, why am I so short? They are smarter than me, why am I so dumb? People like her a lot she must be pretty, I must be ugly.”

Low self esteem? No. I guarantee you it goes the other way too.

“She’s way to skinny and not curvy like me, look at me I’m more athletic than them, I have a great smile, I’m definitely more friendly than them?”

Self centered? No.

Webster Dictionary defines “compare” as :to look at (two or more things) closely in order to see what is similar or different about them or in order to decide which one is better

We simply can not compare ourselves to each other because how can you say “which one or who is better”? The lady on the radio kept talking about how it is simply human nature to compare ourselves to one another but she asked a question that really threw me for a loop… Who are you without the opinions or basis of others?
Crazy right?!
Well I learned the answer to that and it’s simple, are you ready.. You are UNIQUE.

Unique: used to say that something or someone is unlike anything or anyone else.

Instead of trying to compare ourselves to others and match or beat what they are doing or what they look like ,embrace the fact that God is telling a story that has yet to be told through you!
No one human being on this earth is living through this same book of life, yes we may share some characters, themes and settings along the way but the story itself, the plot well that is something quite unique.

So I’d like to end with this
There are approximately 7.5 BILLION people in the world and God has picked apart every single one of us giving us our own UNIQUE talents, skills, likes, dislikes and gifts. So instead of taking time away from unpacking my story it is time to start embracing the UNIQUE person God has made me to be!

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10??
