I can’t believe I am in month ten already, but before I get into that, I want to share with you more about month nine.
Month nine has been my favorite month so far. We worked with an organization called Lasting Impressions, that holds women’s retreats, kid’s camps, environmental camps, leadership camps, and a program called ‘Farming God’s Way’.
During our time with this organization we got to lead a women’s retreat, leadership camp, and even work a wedding. The property that the camp is located on is so beautiful, that some people even rent it out for events.
Ministry was always exciting and the staff at Lasting Impressions were so much fun to partner with. We were never treated like the outsiders, or some unimportant volunteers, but as valuable staff. We got to sit in on all the meetings, participate in morning devotions, and contribute to planning the curriculum for the camps. It was so refreshing to be able to have a say in how our work for the day was going to look, as that’s not very common on the race.
And our hosts’, were nothing short of AMAZING. All, and Shelley, were some of the warmest, hardworking, big dreaming, encouraging people I have ever met. They example The Lords love through their marriage and how they parent. From the day we arrived with them, we became family, having all meals with them around their table, joining in prayer together, and confiding in one another with everything. They even took us on a family vacation with them.
I can’t say I have ever had better hosts’, or felt more welcomed and loved than I did by them. I have been so blessed to have met them, and hope one day to bless others the same way they have blessed my team.
Along with working the camp, in the morning we would assist Shelley with medical needs. People from all around would walk to her house around 7 AM every day, to get medicine or advice for any medical problems they may be having. Her house is basically a care point for anyone and everyone. People would show up and tell her their symptoms, she would give them the medicine/ advice they needed, we would pray for them, and send them off without any bill.
Her house became a safe and healing place for some many people, and it was truly so beautiful to see. This is how I want my house to be when I get home.
Zimbabwe was all together beautiful. We got to see crazy wildlife such as Giraffes, Zebras, Black Rhino, Bush Baby, Impala, and much more. I was constantly amazed by the landscape, the sunsets, and the stars we got to see every day.
Zim- you have my heart.
Month nine has been my favorite month on the race, possibly even my favorite month ever. It was constant adventure, love, and fellowship centered around The Lord. This month has changed so much for me, in such a special way.
I am so thankful to have met some wonderful people, and call this place home for a month.
