The past ten days I have been in the deep mountains of Nepal. We have been living in our tents, and spending our days trekking through the mountains to different churches and villages. But the villages we were visiting are mostly Hindu, and the pastor at the local church didn’t want us evangelizing, but praying over them instead.
I found it hard to find purpose in the work we were doing at first, being that we could not be hands on, and working one on one with others.
Our first days we spent in a small village right by a beautiful river that seemed to go on forever. The water was so blue and refreshing. One afternoon we got to spend an hour of prayer by this river, for the people in the village nearby. As I was watching the blue water flow, I was completely captivated by the beauty of it.
I realized I haven’t rested with the Lord, and delighted in his creation for far too long. After spending an hour by this river with him, I felt more full than I had in a long time.

The next half of the week we went deeper into the mountains. We would wake up every morning to the most beautiful sunrise peaking over the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains, and fall asleep under the bright stars that lit up the night skies. We got to hike to the top of mountains to see some incredible views, and even hike through Asia’s second largest cave. The entire time, I was awestruck by the detail our Lord has put into his creation. I kept feeling like I was in a dream, or that the sights I was seeing weren’t real.

Again, as I was taking all this in, my cup began to overflow. And I think the best part of it all, is that the Lord loves to let us rest with Him. That He delights in watching us delight in Him and his creation. He put all these things here for that purpose.
Everywhere you look is natural beauty and it all points you closer to God. I think sometimes we can over complicate our lives, but what God really wants, is for you to slow down enough to just enjoy him. To rest in him, because that is how you know you are fully trusting him.
Take a break.
Take a breath.
Take it all in.
Because He delights in you delighting in Him.
