…But anyway, I just scrolled through, and noticed something.
Currently there are 7 men and 36 women on A-Squad (2nd generation). That’s roughly 5 women per man on my squad.
But these 7 men have more “man” packed into each of them individually than probably any 7 men together have that I know at home. These 7 men love others fiercely no matter the cost; they protect us as women, teach us, correct us, learn from us with humility, argue with us when we insist we can carry our own packs after 40 hours of travel in the heat, and still have enough energy left to just take them from us and carry them up or down whatever staircase is in front of us.
They're incredibly respectful and, in return, are some of the most respectable guys I know.

I stole your photo, Layne.
These 7 men embody Jesus Christ. They see more, share more, listen more, and DO more than any group of men I’ve ever known before the race.
I don’t even know what word would describe them best…so I’m just going to say that
every one of the men on A-squad is a MAN and hope that gets the point across.
Of the latest 100 blog updates currently listed, 27 of them are posted by men.
That discrepancy is a little smaller than the 1:5 man to woman ratio on A-squad, but it’s still 1:4.
What is the deal? Seriously?
Does our western society have you that convinced that actually following that never-ending voice in your head telling you to GO and DO and SEE and BE is a bad thing?

the men of A-squad being manly. or being thrown out of a raft on the Nile, same thing?
I am NOT under the impression that you have to leave everything and be a missionary for some extended amount of time to be a man, I am under the impression that more men than are willing to step out are supposed to step out and go against the grind.
the rest of this is for those who know they're supposed to, and aren't…
I’m not a dude, I don’t really understand what it is that makes women feel more free to take on the world for the sake of invading this earth with the gospel of Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit (that guides us to the Truth and brings healing and restoration everywhere it touches) than dudes apparently feel…
But whatever it is that has men convinced they can’t or shouldn’t do something like this, it's a lie.
I am convinced that more men than actually DO race feel like they SHOULD race, like they’re “called” to the race. I'm absolutely convinced of that.
But you’re not, men. You’re not racing. You’re not going, doing, seeing, and being.
You’re staying, climbing, striving, and waiting in the same dissatisfying pattern you've been in for years.
but you don't have to.
So please,
HEAR THIS:
Men, your voices are powerful and your actions are powerful.
What you DO and what you SAY can (and is meant to) change the world.
Stop listening to the lie that tells you that you’re more of a man for staying put where you’re "safe" physically and financially and can start to "build a life" (what does that even mean?),
start listening to the still small voice behind you saying “this is the way, walk in it,”
and go.
Just go.
Trust God enough to go.
In the name of Jesus, go.
Tell satan that he can take his lies packed into the modern pressure telling you that it's irresponsible to follow Jesus and shove it, and go.
Change the world, and let His presence in it change you.
Dare to discover the voice, power, and influence of the man you were really created to be.
Go.
Maybe it's the race for you, maybe it isn't, but where ever it is:
Go.
