I have a really awesome story that I want to share with you about a prayer that God recently answered! I am so excited even as I type this. I’m completely blown away yet again by how God works and the ways in which He is constantly providing for me.

Here it goes!

I love pictures. I’m that person who carries my camera with me everywhere I go. My family and friends can confirm this to be true.

I’ve always loved photography, but in the last year or so especially, I have had a huge desire in my heart to go a little further with my photography. And when I say “my photography” I mean starting from scratch and seeing where it takes me.

Sure, I can take snapshots of people, but I want to be more intentional with it. I want to learn and master editing software. I want to not only be able to snap a picture, but learn the technicalities of how to take a great picture. Lighting, ISO, shutter speed, placement, angles …. you get the picture, right?

I said yes to the World Race for a lot of reasons. And ultimately, they all lead back to God and going where He is leading me. I’m excited (and a bit scared) to be forced out of my comfort zone in just about every single way possible. I’m excited for the different types of ministry I will get to experience and be a part of. I can’t wait to meet my teammates and squad-mates! I’m excited to do and see things that I would probably never have the chance to do otherwise. I could go on and on and on. But something that I am really looking forward to is taking pictures throughout my World Race experience and sharing it with you! Capturing the places we go, the people we meet, my teammates, even the food we eat.

So in order to do so, my dream item to take with me on the Race was purchasing a new camera. I have a digital point and shoot camera, which has been a great camera, I love it! But I’m ready to go to the next level. I wanted something a little nicer and fancier that would give me more options, and if I do it right, even better results.

I don’t know if you have looked at the price of cameras lately but they are quite pricey. And as you know when one commits to the World Race they also commit to a very large amount of funds that have to be raised. So while this camera was something that I really wanted to be able to take with me, it was also going to be the last thing on my list to purchase if I had the funds to do so.

I basically left it at, God you know how much I would like to have a new camera, if it’s in your will for me to have one before leaving then you will provide it.

And that was that.

This past Saturday, I got a text from a dear friend of mine who is a photographer and who also happened to be getting a brand new camera. She was going to trade her camera in, but instead she contacted me asking if I would be interested in purchasing it from her. She sold it to me for several hundred dollars less than what I would have paid for it purchasing it brand new in the store. It was a great price and more importantly, one that I could afford and not be out a lot of money. The camera has been well taken care of and is in excellent condition!

I was more than ecstatic. I had trouble sleeping that night because I was so excited.

God did it again! He totally came through and provided a camera for me! The most amazing thing about it though, is other than my immediate family, nobody knew that I was hoping to purchase a new camera before July!

My prayer was answered and in such an unexpected way!

So I now have a new camera (just came in the mail today – thanks, Stacy!!) to take with me on the World Race. And I have 7 months to learn how to use it! This kind of camera is completely foreign to me. (It’s a Canon Rebel EOS XS for any of you photography people who may be wondering.) All I have ever used is my digital point and shoot camera that is always put on the “auto” setting. That’s all I know. So when I say I am starting from scratch, I am truly starting from scratch!

(If anybody wants to go on some photo shoots let me know J I will take all the practice I can get!)

Lately, I have been so overwhelmed (in a very good way) by the Lord’s goodness and His love for me. He takes such good care of me it blows me away most of the time!

He is such a faithful God. He hears our prayers and He knows our hearts so well. He knows the things that our heart desires.

Even when it seems we are praying and nothing is happening, or we’re not getting what we want and what we think that we need, He is still listening. He is still good. He still knows what is on our hearts. He knows our needs. And He is still taking care of us.

God never stops being faithful. He never stops listening. And He never stops loving us.

I am so excited to get to use this camera to share with you my World Race adventure as it unfolds!
