I feel like a kid again. I draw with crayons and markers. I play games. I sing songs. I do the hokey pokey and the “chicken dance” (way, way too many times…). It’s been interesting getting to spend time working with children in Thailand. Throughout the month, our team was able to first work at the “drop-in” center for Burmese street children. Towards the end of the month, however, we moved to Mae Sarueng and were able to travel around schools and speak to children and interact with them. At times we were put on the spot and had to entertain between 150-300 Thai school children. I love working with kids….but more so in multiples of 2 (with that also being the limit at any one time!). It was a huge blessing getting to work with these children and being able to speak about the love of Jesus Christ. I’ve also realized something about the God….

HE LOVES CHILDREN.

In Matthew 19:13-14 it says:

” Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Often times I think that this verse goes unnoticed or misinterpreted. The verse isn’t saying that we have to dumb ourselves down or have blind faith as Christians or in our relationship with God. Instead, I think that God is trying to teach us to be fully dependent upon HIM. Many of these children that we worked with throughout this past month have experienced unimaginable heartache, loss, and pain in the few years they have lived on this earth. However, their joy and smiles fill me with hope and encourage my faith! I want to have the faith of these children. The faith to dream even bigger dreams. The faith that God will provide for both the little and big things in life. The faith that God can bring about new beginnings. The faith that an indescribable, extraordinary, awesome God would do indescribable, extraordinary and awesome things!
