During the eleven months I am on the World Race, I will without a doubt meet people that inspire me: people that bring the Kingdom in a beautiful and unique way. It’s inevitable because that is the body of Christ.

And in fact, I have already met some of these people and plan on meeting more. They are wonderful and cause me to want to give and do more. Unfortunately, along with their awesome role and contribution comes anonymity. Their story goes about as far as the people that physically meet them.

In the past this realization has discouraged me. I’ve been on previous mission trips and any time I’ve met someone like this, I’ve been saddened by what I feel is my inability to change anything about their situation. I feel like they deserve more.

Well fortunately so does Adventures in Missions and the World Race.

At the end of last year, a new program was implemented into the normal flow of the World Race. It is aptly named The Unsung Heroes Campaign.

Unsung heroes are people that faithfully advance the Kingdom of God where they are at. They do it not for fame or recognition (and often receive none), but rather because their love of Jesus compels them to. Most of the time they don’t have very much to offer in terms of resources, but what they lack in that area, they make up for in dedication and love. They are missionaries in the truest sense.

The focus of this campaign is two-fold: it is first to tell the stories of those we refer to as “unsung heroes”, and second it is to broaden their reach in an effort to make them more impactful than they’ve ever been.

Our job as World Racers is to be the hands and feet of this movement. Every team on our squad is allotted one month to help expand the campaign. This month in Bolivia is my team’s month.

We will go about this in many different ways, but basically it is our job to find these heroes, stay in contact with them, tell their story, pass them on to future World Racers, and hook them up with other ministries so they can be more effective.

I feel very honored to be a part of such an amazing ministry. I know God is going to move mightily through it.

But here’s the thing, it is still in development. The squads that launched in January, including ours, are only the second group of racers to be a part of this. It’s a long way from a well-oiled machine.

But here’s the other thing! You can help us. If you know of anyone who does Kingdom work in or around Bolivia, let me know. Or someone who did short term missions here. Or someone who knows someone who did. Any information at all could potentially help us.

Let’s sow honor where honor is due. Together.

Thanks, guys!
