Yes it is a blog and it is open for anyone to read!

So this is the first blog I have really ever done.  I can honestly say I really enjoy writing, but it’s something that if I don’t do perfectly then what I write I don’t like letting people read.  So, I guess here’s to the beginning of learning to let go of perfectionism and just write to those who choose to read and leave it at that. 

-So what’s going on here?

Well it’s like this. I decided one day some years ago to do some internet searching for travel and missions and what came up in that search was something that seemed too awesome to be true and if it was true it would be too awesome for me to ever have a chance to do.  It felt like a dream; just something that would always be out of reality for me. 

Now about 5 years later I’ve taken that step and am choosing to do the thing I saw that day several years ago when I thought this was never in His plan for me and live out that dream.  Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” As a matter of fact it was always in His plan for me, and even before I knew who HE was.

-So what is it?

It’s called The World Race and I’ll be leaving on it beginning January 2014.  It’s a journey that reaches into 11 countries in 11 months and is an entirely stretching experience that will demand tons of courage and trust.  It’s a chance to abandon a traditional lifestyle for nearly a year in exchange for a new understanding that it’s about the Kingdom and not about me. 

-So why am I going?

I finally learned how to say how I know something when I really don’t know how to explain it.  I’m going because I know it in my knower that this is the next thing He’s got for me! I want a deeper knowledge, love and understanding of Jesus in ways I have never seen, dreamed of or imagined. I want to do what he says for us to do and I expect He will be showing up often next year.  Jesus says in Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always.”

That said, He will be accompanying me to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.  One each month.

-So what will I even be doing?

Ha, good question. Well, I know this much, which isn’t much for detail at this point, but here it is anyway.  I will serve in partnership with churches, ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, help plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to those trapped in occupations caused by human trafficking and bring the hope of Jesus’ love to many, but at the end of the day it’s neither my agenda nor the organization’s that I’m going under, but solely Jesus’.  I believe my part is to simply be ready and willing to give my “YES” like Isaiah 6:8, “Here am I, send me”.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!”
