The 29th of September… 18 days after we touched down in India, my team finally got a rest day!
We arrived safely in Bangalore this morning and got ourselves ‘situated’ in our hostel…as much as we could anyway. Taking naps was a priority, we’ve slept almost every night this month but our bodies and minds were still brought to exhaustion. Adventure was also a priority, our last two days in India..burning to get even just a little lost 🙂
Naturally we figured out a way to rent a moped so us Americans could learn how to drive on the left side and through the crazy busy traffic habits of India …a honk of a horn is simply a ‘hello’ here.
I think we were all craving a piece of home after our first month away and somehow we got on the topic of Starbucks ..that glorious place 🙂 I wiped out my google maps and it came up only two miles from where we are staying so four of us hopped into a Tuk Tuk and drove off. The driver didn’t really know what we were talking about but he dropped us off in the general location and then just asked around …I figured the other young folk might know what we were talking about and they did! a few minutes later we saw that welcoming green lettering – mocha frap, yes please!
(Added bonus: we ran into another team from our squad unexpectedly and had a sweet reunion!)
After Starbz we knew that our team would be hungry when we got back and wanted to grab some groceries for dinner … Rachael wasn’t feeling good when we left either so we wanted to get something to bless her and lift her spirits. After asking around some we found the store … it may sound ridiculous to you but the next several moments we spent in that store I will forever remember fondly. I straight up cried in the middle of this grocery isle because we found Mexican food! After a hard month of adjusting to local/cutural food Papa blessed my heart so much through vegetarian taco/burrito night ! my teammate grabbed my iPod to capture the hilarious moment as I stood there crying and in awe of what I saw lol “El Paso” the most comforting brand of food I ever did see! We had chips and salsa with tacos for dinner this evening and I couldnt be more content!
It makes me feel silly to think I’ve been blessed with amazing opportunities to pray and bless other believers and children this month and yet the moment I felt the most provided for and the most comforted by Papa was in that grocery store tonight. He cares about the details ..that even half way across the world in Bangalore, India …I got to eat Mexican!
Please continue to pray covering and blessings over our team as we transition to Nepal on October 1st!
Heres the video we captured! (I’ve never posted a video on here so I hope it works!)
