The older I get the more I realize the less I need.

I remember growing up and the closer it got to Christmas I would start thinking of things to write on my Christmas Wish List….a new game, toy, jewelry, clothes, etc.  I remember thinking, “What do I want Santa to bring me this year from the North Pole?” 🙂  Maybe a new bike..yeah that would be good…or maybe a puppy!

Now don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to say there is anything wrong with wanting new things for Christmas, but simply the older I have gotten….the true importance of Christmas comes to mind.

Christmas to me in the last 6+ years has been more about spending time with family.   I don’t care about the presents underneath the tree.  I’d rather spend time with my family I only get to see maybe once a year.

Christmas to me is waking up to the smell of fresh baked pecan pies and chocolate piesIt’s jumping up out of bed in your pj’s to find your cousins joking, fussing, and giggling at one another.  It’s playing Christmas music and dancing around in your pj’s.  It’s singing to the top of your lungs like you’re Mariah Carey.  It’s snuggling up on the couch with each other watching cartoons/tv.  It’s helping out in the kitchen with making all those yummy dishes my aunt and mom love to whip up.  These things are far better than any Christmas present underneath the tree.

The most important though is Jesus.  We are often not so Christ-centered on this holiday and I want to encourage everyone to remember the true meaning of Christmas.  It’s not about the gifts we are brought, but the gift He brought to us.  He is the best gift we could ever receive.

This Christmas all I want is:

God

Prayer

Support

For it’s God who directs my path and has re-routed my plans.  It’s Prayer that will help get me through my journey He’s led me to now.  It’s Support I will need to be able to reach each destination on my journey.

If you feel in your heart you’d like to help me out through prayer alone I would really appreciate this so much!  If you feel led to give financial support- click on the “Support Me” link at the top of my page or on the left hand side. You can also mail in a check to:

“For to us a child is born,to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”  When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.” Matthew 1:21-25
