One common factor that I have noticed in the two Asian countries I have been in is their penchant for using scooters for transportation. I must say that the Scooter Fever is rubbing off on me–I think a little Vespa would be fun to have to toodle around town and surrounding areas. (No, I would NOT be giving up my bike! I’m counting the days until I can take a long bike ride–that would be May 19th!)
I wonder how many people I could get away with on a scooter: I have seen families of 5–mom, dad, kids (including a baby!). The other day we saw four teenage boys squeezed onto one–with schoolbags! Yes, they were a bit crowded. Unfortunately I couldn’t get my camera out soon enough to capture that sight.
I wonder what I could carry on it: They carry all sorts of bags and boxes and gadgets. I’m not sure that I have the balance for that feat. Please notice in the picture that he has a few dozen eggs on this pile!!!
I just think that we need to follow the lead of Asia in accommodating for scooters with
SCOOTER PARKING LOTS– They usually get tickets and the gates are put across. Everything is different on the beach 🙂
And special parking spots on the streets for scooters! Love it!
