One of my favorite places to go in other countries is the open-air marketplace.  I love to go where the common people go.  It is fascinating to walk slowly through the marketplace and see what they have for sale, watch people and see all the different and unfamiliar things.  Here is just a FEW things that I saw the other day as I walked through the market with Dana and Anna
Dead chickens–and they did have live chickens that they would kill and pluck right there.  Flip-flops.  Dried shrimp.  Familiar Vegetables.  Pineapple–they cut it with a swirl to get rid of all the pokey things.  Dried red peppers. Unfamiliar fruit.
