"If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there." – Lewis Carrol
There was a time in my life that I was so afraid about making the wrong decision about my future that I chose nothing. I was easier to stay at a part-time, low paying job than to commit to a “big girl” job that I wasn’t sure I would like. In fact, I tried one of those for a few months and it was a disaster. That mess, combined the apparent shortage of people willing to hire me, left me in a state of limbo. So I got up, pasted a smile on my face, went to work, ate, slept, and went through the motions of life, without moving forward. And I was miserable.
But really there’s only one way to follow God’s plan for your life. Take the next step. Sure, you might get lost. In fact I almost guarantee that you’ll have to change directions or alter your course a bit as you go. But you can’t feel God can’t push you in the right direction if you are standing still.
So exercise your faith. Faith is more than just believing in Jesus. Faith is an action that requires movement. You can’t have faith by just sitting around waiting for things to happen. You have to get out and do something.
In James 2:14 we read, “If people say they have faith, but do nothing, then their faith is worth nothing.”
Don’t just talk about it. Don't just believe it. Step out in faith. Even if you take a misstep God will be right there to put you back on track. Every job, every relationship, every opportunity is a chance to listen for God’s instructions for you! Obey God and trust that He is working.
Take it from someone who knows – sitting around hoping for something to happen doesn’t work. As soon as you make the decision to trust God and take action, amazing things can happen. So get moving!!
