Not that F-Word. Get your mind out of the gutter. Seriously people.

So you’ve read my past blogs. The World Race Sounds pretty cool. I’m heading off to Honduras and India and Cambodia to serve the poor and share the Good News about Jesus for 11 months. Nice. Admirable. Sounds like an awesome experience.

It costs what? $15, 500.

Yeah. You read that right. $15,500. That I get to fundraise! That exclamation mark was not sarcastic. Okay. It was. This money will cover all of my travel, food, and lodging expenses for the 11 months that I will be on the Race.

Fundraising for The World Race is as big of a part of my journey and ministry as is feeding orphans, preaching in churches, and visiting hospitals. Fundraising is about connecting the entire Body of Christ to minister in every nation. I’m asking people to support me because I want to invite them to be a part of the ministry. I want you to be a part of the ministry! Fundraising is about the body of Christ joining together to see God's Kingdom come.

Generally speaking, we like to spend money on comfort – nice homes, fancy cars, cute clothing, nifty electronics – but the Bible teaches that it is a better idea to invest in character. God wants us to take some of our money and invest it in ourselves, in humanity — in personal and spiritual improvement. In other words, spend your money in such a way that you grow closer to God and that helps others to do so.

In 2 Peter 3:18 we read “Grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”. It is a great desire of mine to answer God’s call and go on this mission and do just that.

This requires an investment.

Which brings me back to the F-Word. Fundraising. Something that will surely be one of many challenges for me on the race.

Sure, I’ve got some savings from the past few years, all of which I’ll be putting towards the Race and other race related expenses… But that still leaves me VERY short of the amount I’ll need to go on the race. Plus I’ll need cash for things like shampoo and health insurance and a cup of coffee every now and again.

I know that $15,500 is a big number but I also know that our God is even bigger.

I’m trusting God to meet my support needs. In this case, my prayer is that He will do this through you.

Your donations will send me out as an ambassador to the nations – with the love and good news of the salvation and hope that is available in Jesus Christ.

For me to participate on the World Race, I’ll require several different kinds of support.

  1. Prayer. I’m looking for several people to commit to praying for me while I prepare for the race and throughout my time in the field. I believe that God answers prayers, and I’m asking you to pray for safety, open hearts and minds, good health, smooth travel, and financial support for my squad and me during this missions trip. Just knowing that you will be praying will give me peace as I go through this journey.
  1. Financial. I would be honored if you would consider partnering with me financially with me in this ministry. A donation of any amount would help me tremendously. If you feel called to contribute you can choose to make a one-time donation or pledge monthly donations throughout the duration of my trip. Further instructions on how to donate are at the end of this blog. I’ll also probably be selling t-shirts, bracelets, doing a few “dine and donate” events and holding a Wine Dinner and a bake sale, so watch for future blogs on those if you’d rather donate that way.
  1. Networking. If you cannot contribute financially I would appreciate your help with networking – sharing my blog and my story with as many people as possible!

I am so excited to see how God will move in my life in the coming year. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring the Good News of Jesus to nations around the world. I want to thank you in advance for any support you are able to offer. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Peace and Love,

Julie
