Being a missionary is a lot harder than I ever thought. It takes a toll on you mentally, physically, and spiritually. It tests you and stretches you more than you ever thought possible. It takes you to your limit then pushes you over the edge. If you don’t stay on your A-game and stay fully focused on God and reliant on Him, this kind of life will eat you up and spit you out.

Without God,His Holy Spirit, and community I would have given up months ago. It took me a while to really grasp, but in life you get to a place where you can no longer live out of your own strength but you have to completely rely on God’s strength for everything. If you try it on your own strength one of two things will happen, or both. One, you will fall flat on your face and fail miserably and two, you will burn yourself out and won’t be able to continue.

I have grown to be completely dependent on God and interdependent on my brothers and sisters. It is crazy to me how near-sighted I was starting the race. How I thought I can do things on my own and in my own strength. Wrong! Think again buddy. I have learned to rely on the power of prayer (which is the power of God) and the bond and love of family, the church. The way we live on the race is very similar to how the early church lived. I would like to see that style of living sweep across the American church. How amazing would that be? That we could actually be broken and not have all the answers in a church that seems to have to have it all together, show no emotion for God or each other, and resemble that of zombies.

Life was meant to be simple and work like a family. Community is essential and desperately needed. I couldn’t get through all my mess without the help of community. I realize how much we need each other. It is a miracle that we have been formed into the body of Christ and function as healthy as we do. Its only by the grace of God and the Holy Spirit.

Please pray for unity among our teams and our squad. It is essential for us to be unified, because there lies our strength. Also it shows the world the love of God that brings us together.
